DJA's work has been widely published in print and online. They've been featured in Architectural Record, Dwell, Hauser, and Canadian Architect. Their practice has received a number of honours including the 2017 Emerging Firm Award from the AIBC and the 2017 Emerging Architectural Practice Award from the RAIC / Architecture Canada.

Pearl Block is a series of 6 townhomes that have been carefully designed to preserve and enhance the surrounding neighbourhood’s privacy. Overcoming the challenges of a difficult shaped site, constraints were turned into assets. The building’s stepped form responds to the site’s triangular shape, resulting in a building shape where the proposed project’s residents will all have a generously sized outlook towards the street.
We've undertaken a transparent, multi-phase community consultation process that will continue through our application to the City of Victoria.

Trees on Shelbourne
A non-intrusive contemporary addition to a well-established neighbourhood and street frontage. The building’s footprint and staggered driveway access preserves existing street trees and the adjacent neighbouring trees. Pearl Block uses traditional exterior materials in a modern way; along with its neutral colour palette and understated presence - This project will fit right in. After all, pearls go with everything.
Yards in the sky
Living within a smaller footprint, doesn't mean a compromised lifestyle. We're utilizing the rooftop of each unit, ideal space for private outdoor living rooms and gardens. Dinner parties, children playing, and pet ownership - these things are encouraged, over at Pearl Block.
A future with infill
We aren't going to solve our housing crunch by relocating everybody towers and mid-rise buildings downtown Victoria. It's important to look at infill and the density it brings with a more holistic and neighbourhood-wide lens. Urban infill increases the efficiency of existing neighbourhoods, building higher density structures on vacant or under-utilized lots. This increases amenities and therefore the urban health of a community. With Pearl Block we've taken a thoughtful approach to how the land is being used while introducing beautiful architecture to enhance the neighbourhood.
