Kinsol Timber Systems

Aryze helped found and works in partnership with Kinsol Timber Systems, a specialized construction firm focused on Mass Timber fabrication, building and conserving important timber and timber hybrid structures across Western Canada.

Branch Coffee Company

Aryze helped found and construct a neighbourhood café in the heart of Victoria’s Gonzales community in 2016. Since July 2020, local company Hide & Seek Coffee has taken over the cafe to carry on Branch’s legacy of creating space for a network of people: baristas practicing their craft, vendors highlighting quality products and locals sharing the hub — which all comes together to make the cafe a thriving part of its community.

Matthew Jardine
Principal, Construction Lead

Matty founded and co-owns Aryze. A true creative, he’s sought to apply his passion for design and form to each project Aryze has delivered over the past 16 years. With a tenure spanning 17-years in construction and management, Matty is our team’s visionary.

Ryan Goodman
Principal, General Manager

Ryan co-owns Aryze and manages its business, development, and marketing efforts. Ryan has a BA (Economics) from Simon Fraser University and an MBA from the University of Victoria.

Luke Mari
Principal, Development Lead

Luke is a partner in Aryze and leads its land acquisition and development efforts. Luke studied Land Economics at UBC and has a BA (Urban Planning) from the University of Northern BC.

Katherine Davies
VP of Operations

Katherine has a PhD from the University of Victoria and a project management professional (PMP) designation, and collaborates with Ryan and Matty in organizing and overseeing the daily operations of the company. Katherine ensures the business and projects are well-coordinated; manages Aryze’s procedures and processes; and safeguards and augments the efficiency of the company’s operations to facilitate accelerating development and long-term success.

Justin Filuk
Director of Development

Justin has an extensive and diverse background in real estate development. Over the past 17 years he has worked on projects throughout North American, including master-planned communities, affordable housing projects, brownfield redevelopment and speciality commercial/retail projects. Justin holds a Master’s Degree in urban planning and design from the University of Calgary and serves on the board of directors with the Urban Development Institute (Capital Region).

Divya Saleem
Director of Finance

Divya holds a CPA designation and an MCom from the University of Madras and is actively completing her CFA. With 15 years experience in accounting and finance, Divya runs a tight ship as the head of finance at Aryze. Divya is a trained singer in Indian music and has performed at the Calgary Stampede with her line dancing group.

Rachel Parry
Senior Accountant

A pro in numbers, Rachel joined us with a BA in Management and Organization and is currently pursuing a CPA designation to strengthen her mastery. Although small, she is as fierce as it comes!

Venessa Chang

Venessa joins us with a BBA from Langara University. After discovering her love for numbers she worked for several developers in both Victoria and Vancouver, and it was in this industry that Venessa found her happy place. When not crunching numbers, you will find her lifting weights, dancing, thrift shopping or enjoying a glass of wine.

Vinit Jain
Manager, PMO

Vinit brings a steady hand and a depth of knowledge in construction and operations management. Having previously worked with global IT solutions provider Tata Consulting, Vinit is a project manager and responsible for the project management office, ensuring projects are well-coordinated by managing its procedures, helping drive projects forward during pre-construction, and maintaining overall performance on all projects.

Carly Abrahams
Development Manager

Carly is an experienced real estate development professional; over the past ten years, Carly has led the delivery of over $300+ million in complex, residential real estate developments across the greater Capital Region as Development Manager. Notable projects include ‘The Skyline’, the first six storey wood-frame building in North America. Carly has a demonstrated history of leading project teams in both the private sector and with non-profit organizations by developing various policies and procedures and through established client and business relations.

Jared James
Development Manager

Jared’s industry experience began as a carpenter’s helper to most recently managing the development of +$200M across 260,000 sqft of mixed-use projects in Mount Pleasant, Vancouver. Jared holds a BA from the University of Victoria, as well as a project management professional (PMP) designation. Out of the office, you’ll find him on the ocean either swimming, snorkelling or fishing.

Melanie Ransome
Marketing Manager

Holding a BA in Communications from Royal Roads University, Melanie brings extensive marketing experience from a local perspective and a variety of vantage points: tourism, agency, small business, events, and entertainment. Whether big-picture strategy or detail-driven tactics, Melanie helps tell the Aryze story and connect with our community.

Dan Foster
Development Coordinator

With an advanced diploma in Architectural Technology, Dan has a dynamic background in construction and development, with experience working in the custom home industry in Whistler as well as working with Mass Timber as a timber frame designer with Spearhead. Dan has a passion for woodworking/welding, designing and building furniture, and photography. An outdoor enthusiast, Dan enjoys backcountry mountain biking and hiking.

Leigh Stickle
Development Coordinator

Leigh is a born and bred Victorian who has gone full circle after a few years of schooling and working in Montreal and Vancouver. With a background in planning and development including a BA in Urban Studies from Concordia, he brings a mixture of experience and local viewpoint to his work. Outside of urbanism, he pours his passions into all things soccer, food, and the outdoors.

Sydney Yap
Development Assistant

Sydney has a Bachelors in Commerce from the University of Victoria and spent a semester studying at HHL Graduate School of Management in Germany. Sydney loves to travel, eat, and hike and has so far explored over 20 countries.

Damian Clow
Director of Construction

Damian has been involved in all aspects of high-rise and multi-family construction for the past 13 years. This experience, combined with multiple years as a competitive Alpine Ski coach, has shaped his skill set as a leading and innovative Director of Construction. Holding a degree in Business Administration from the University of PEI, Damian knows that striving for efficiency, accountability, and the highest quality is paramount to a successful project.

Jackson Leidenfrost
Project Manager

Jackson is a highly skilled Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter and site supervisor. He joined Aryze with 8-years of progressive construction experience starting with a 4-year apprenticeship at one of British Columbia’s premier custom-home builders, Calrudd Construction. Jackson is a natural leader who brings energy, fairness, and integrity to each interaction with sub-trades, customers, and the Aryze team.

Andrew Chapman
Project Manager

Andrew is a Red Seal Carpenter who brings a range of experience in project management and building science to our team. He enjoys challenging and innovative projects with a focus on sustainable building technologies suited for the coastal climate in the Pacific Northwest. When not on the job, Andrew can be found outdoors with his family or pursuing his dream of one day playing in the NHL.

Ryan Malone
Project Manager

Ryan holds a Commerce Degree from Royal Roads University,  and a Project Management Certificate from UBC. Furthermore, he is a project management professional (PMP) and a LEED accredited professional. Prior to joining Aryze, Ryan was a Project Manager with Natural Balance in Vancouver, where he lead construction of high-end custom homes by some of our provinces leading architects.

Kurt Filan
Construction Manager

Kurt brings a wealth of knowledge to our front line. Working alongside our project managers, Kurt reviews and coordinates our day-to-day construction. As a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter, he passionately continues to build the Aryze apprenticeship program. He finds enjoyment in motivating the team on a daily basis to build more efficiently and sustainably for a healthier future. When not sporting his steel toed boots, Kurt can be found enjoying the outdoors with his daughter, on a boat ocean fishing, or hitting the ice rink.

Kyle Dunkley
Construction Specialist

Kyle completed his apprenticeship at Camosun College and is a 17-year seasoned veteran of carpentry who truly has a passion for the craft. Ensuring a safety culture surrounds him as he continues to learn all aspects of building and construction. When not on site, Kyle can be found exploring Vancouver Island with his wife and 2 children.

Miguel Gagnon
Sr Site Supervisor

Miguel is a highly skilled Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter with over 15 years experience in a variety of construction environments including concrete forming, framing, roofing, and interior finishing. Miguel usually has the best parking spot on site for a good reason—he’s always the first person there.

Kevin Klasen
Sr Site Supervisor

Kevin holds a Technology in Construction Management degree from BCIT and is a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter. Having worked over 18 years in the Construction Industry, Kevin knew that his calling was in Construction Management. Following 6 years on the tools, Kevin began working on a multitude of project types and delivery methods in the role of site supervisor and project manager. When Kevin is not onsite, he can be found riding his dirt bike, mountain bike, or even his horse, Dixi!

Tyler Cust
Site Supervisor

Tyler is a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter with a truly broad understanding of construction; he brings a wide range of experience in forming, framing, interior finishing, and project management. Tyler is often the last man onsite, diligently making sure everything has been taken care of.

Wade Whitlock
Site Supervisor

A Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter, Wade has over 14 years of experience in the construction and trade industry. He brings a vast and broad mastery to the Aryze team.

Sam Gane
Safety Coordinator / Apprentice Carpenter

Sam’s thirst for knowledge, kindness, and attention to detail makes him a valuable addition to the team. Having worked as a paramedic with BC Ambulance Service for 5 years prior to joining us, Sam brings his passion for health and safety to every worksite.

Adam Evans
Safety Officer

Adam brings a dynamic range safety of commercial construction experience to the Aryze team having worked as a safety officer on job sites throughout Western Canada. In his free time Adam enjoys playing hockey, surfing, canoeing, and exploring Vancouver Island.

Adam Trimm
Deficiency Coordinator

With a BA (Psychology) from the University of Ottawa, an Architecture Technology Certificate from Algonquin College, and a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) designation through the Project Management Institute, Adam joined Aryze with an eclectic mix of experience in construction and project management. An outdoor enthusiast and survivalist, Adam spends his spare time trekking, climbing mountains, and exploring the wild with his dog, including a 5-month hiking trip from Calgary to Victoria.

Jason Gowen
Carpenter / Safety Officer

Jason is a carpenter with 15 years experience in various aspects of the construction industry. He believes strongly in community service and is a passionate naturalist and mycologist. When Jason is not on site he is building community by volunteering for charitable organizations or teaching people about mushrooms and the incredible forests of our region.

Scott Timmer

With a diploma in Architectural Technologies from SAIT and 10 years of carpentry experience, Scott has a passion for construction, design, and innovation. An outdoor enthusiast and adventurist, Scott enjoys hiking, camping, and snowboarding in his spare time.

Connor Gilhooly

Conor is a carpentry apprentice who joined Aryze with 3 years experience in industrial construction in Northern Canada with the Ledcor Group. Conor has experience in welding and carpentry, and is actively pursuing his Certificate in Business Administration from Okanagan College. On the evenings and weekends, he has been developing his craft with fine furniture building. You can recognize him immediately on site as the man who never stops smiling.

Rob Garant

With a background in sales and management, Rob is an apprentice carpenter at Aryze. He is an amazing team player with a strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. When not renovating his own home, Rob can be found playing hockey or enjoying a round of golf.

Carter Laird
Apprentice Carpenter

With 2 years of construction experience, Carter is a carpentry apprentice and is certified in traffic control, first aid level 1, and safety. If you ever need a Rubik’s cube solved, Carter’s your man; he can lay it down in 50 seconds or less!

Jan Gacura
Skilled Labourer

Winner of Aryze’s Most Productive Employee of 2019, Jan is always on the move, determined and passionate about his duties. Jan aspires to start and finish his Carpentry Apprenticeship with Aryze and flourish with the growth of Aryze in Victoria. Outside of Aryze, Jan is an avid HGTV fanatic, is an event planner, and DJ’s in one of Victoria’s most iconic venues as well as internationally.

Lee Wilkins
Skilled Labourer

Lee joined the Aryze team as a summer student and now after 2 summers of construction experience has joined the team full time! In his spare time, Lee enjoys hiking, camping, and off roading.

Owen Eagles
Skilled Labourer

With a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Owen came to Aryze from a career in aquatics, including lifeguarding and swim instruction. In his spare time Owen enjoys spending time outdoors, boxing, and playing ice and ball hockey.
