Tofino Resort + Marina

Through an 8 month design-build engagement, ARYZE transformed a dated Tofino landmark into a hip, black-and-white reflection of its 1970's glory days. We paired stark exterior materials and colours with warm wood siding that pops against the lush greens, blues and greys of the Tofino landscape. Inside, the 63 guest suites have been renovated to perfect simplicity: cozy beds, sweeping ocean views and private patios for every room.

Design, Construction Management

The waterline building envelope was replaced with natural materials engineered to age and patina in the West Coast weather. Our team clad the roof and implement exposed siding elements in durable corrugated steel.

We collaborated with Biophillia Design Collective to bring vibrant natural materials and lush flora to the resort grounds. The intention is that the exposed wood ages and greys in the winter weather, effectively anchoring the setting in its lush, natural environment.

Coinciding with the resort opening, the project also launched two unique hospitality concepts; Restaurant 1909 and the Hatch Waterfront Pub.

The marina building, resort staff housing, docks and marina were revitalized across 5 buildings, totalling more than 39,000 square feet.

The resort was re-imagined and rehabilitated from the ground up.
