About

We're urbanists, designers, builders and neighbours—nationally recognized for believing that great cities don't happen by accident.

Groundbreaking ideas—in every sense.

As a certified B Corp, we hold ourselves to rigorous standards across governance, design, community and environment. Not because it's required—because it reflects how we think a development company should operate. This approach has resulted in award-winning projects: Pearl Block brought missing middle housing to a triangular lot everyone else passed on. Rotunda added architecturally significant homes to a neighbourhood with room to grow. Tiny Homes turned repurposed shipping containers into transitional housing for people who needed it most—crowdfunded and built in under six months.

We are a group of next-generation leaders trying to build homes, but really, we like to think of ourselves as entrepreneurs with an underlying goal of building better cities.

What began with building a swim dock and a floating tree in the Gorge Waterway (and engaging in a political conversation or two) has grown into a mission: to demystify and disrupt the real estate industry.

We believe that every neighbourhood should have diverse housing types and tenures for all incomes and demographics. A densified, compact, walkable lifestyle is critical to solving our climate and housing crisis; all while creating more livable and healthier communities.

While we bring a number of innovative infill development projects to market, Aryze’s earliest roots are in quality and unique construction. Our focus to build with the highest standards of craft, design and efficiency has distinguished our homes from others on the block.

Our Team

Ideas like these need a team that can actually build them. Ours can—from concept through construction, all under one roof.

Matthew Jardine

Managing Principal

With more than 20 years as a master home builder, Matty has constructed custom homes alongside some of Canada's most celebrated architects. A former member of Victoria's Advisory Design Panel, he has advised Council on design merit across development plans and special projects throughout the city. At Aryze, Matty provides leadership to the project management and construction teams—with a focus on progressive construction technologies, property acquisition and construction management—and remains intimately involved in every project delivered.

Luke Mari

Managing Principal

A land economist and registered professional planner with more than 20 years in real estate, Luke believes cities should be built for friends, coffee and pizza—not just cars and spreadsheets. As Managing Principal at Aryze, he advocates for data-informed design and diverse housing in every neighbourhood. Luke has participated in more than 30 national and international housing panels, contributed to CMHC's Missing Middle Solutions Lab, and served on the Board of the Greater Victoria Housing Society.

Katherine Davies

Principal, Operations

Katherine holds a PhD from the University of Victoria and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. As Principal of Operations, she works alongside Matty and Luke to oversee the daily operations, procedures and processes that keep Aryze running efficiently. Katherine also serves on the board of One Degree Forward—a Canadian charity focused on education, clean water and infrastructure in Cambodia—and supports local charity and neighbourhood initiatives.

Damian Clow

Vice President, Construction

Damian holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of PEI and brings 15+ years across all aspects of high-rise and multi-family construction. His experience spans budgeting, scope development, contract negotiation and trade procurement across concrete and wood frame projects. As Director of Construction at Aryze, Damian leads with a focus on efficiency, accountability and quality—a standard shaped equally by his years in construction and as a competitive Alpine Ski coach.

Chris Quigley

Vice President, Development

With 15+ years across real estate development in North America and Europe, Chris has worked on master-planned communities, affordable housing, brownfield redevelopment and commercial projects. Chris holds a Master's in Urban Planning and Design from Oxford Brookes, an MA in Urban Economics from the University of Southampton, and an Honours Degree in Geography from the University of Leeds. He is a chartered member of both the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners.

Carla Matheson

Vice President, Finance

Carla is a CPA and accomplished finance executive with a track record of leading complex projects and multimillion-dollar transactions. At Aryze, she oversees all aspects of finance and accounting, playing a role in project underwriting, capital structuring, risk management and strategic planning. With experience guiding companies through financings, M&A, and organizational growth, Carla brings both operational depth and strategic vision to our development work. Her ability to translate financial complexity into clear, actionable decisions makes her a key contributor to the firm’s success and long-term resilience. She currently sits on multiple boards, and is the Board Chair of Power To Give.

Sarah Henderson

Director of Sales & Leasing

Sarah brings 10+ years in real estate development and sales, backed by two decades in operations and client service. Specializing in boutique infill, she has sold and leased over 600 homes across 10+ buildings, consistently achieving record price performance. Working across Development, Construction, Marketing and Communications, Sarah oversees the full sales and leasing lifecycle—from launch to handover—delivering a seamless experience for homeowners and strong outcomes for the project.

Melanie Ransome

Director of Marketing & Partnerships

Melanie works alongside Aryze's partners—First Nations, non-profits, local businesses and community builders with ideas worth getting behind—to find new ways our work can do more. She also collaborates closely with the development and sales teams to bring each Aryze building to market, from the first story to final handover. Across marketing, communications and economic development, she brings structure to early-stage ideas where precedent doesn't yet exist—turning shared values into something concrete that everyone at the table can build on.
