Advocacy

We see it as our responsibility to advocate for a city with diverse housing for all neighbourhoods. We want people in our community to see options that reflect their needs, whether they call Victoria home today or wish to someday soon.

Advocacy in development means innovation across a full spectrum of housing types.

This includes fostering a strong vision for what a city can be.

A healthy place with leafy neighbourhoods where we can afford to raise our kids.

A city with exceptional urban design, public spaces and architecture that enhances the public realm.

A place where lack of housing doesn't hinder businesses from retaining and attracting exceptional talent.

A city where you can walk or ride from your home to your favourite coffee shop, park, gym, grocery store, barber or pool, back to the coffee shop and then to a pub—all in the same day.

A place with welcoming, shared neighbourhoods that celebrate diverse lifestyles and needs.

Principles

A thoughtful approach to the built environment promotes thriving, resilient communities and enriched natural environments for current and future generations.

From greenspace and transit corridors, to the public realm and private homes, we’re advocating for a city with a healthy sense of space and place.

Block x Block

Part urban design contest and part community brain-trust; at the heart of it all, Block x Block is about championing urbanism and rethinking what our future city could look like.

Every few months, Aryze reimagines a different block of Victoria. If you have an idea you’d like to propose, send us an email. The ground rules are simple.

  1. It must reasonably conform to the existing policy context.
  2. Design priority will be given to everything before the private car.
  3. It will benefit the whole, not the aggregated individual property interests.
  4. Buildout has to be possible within a 15-year time horizon or less.
  5. It must be bold, fun and designed to inspire.

Aryze will collaborate with a different design team for each Block x Block release so diverse perspectives and skill sets can come to the surface. Each street, block and neighbourhood is unique and we want the designs to reflect that.
