Kinsol Timber

ARYZE helped found and works in partnership with Kinsol Timber Systems, a specialized construction firm focused on building and conserving important timber and timber hybrid structures across Western Canada.

Branch Coffee

ARYZE helped found and constructed Branch Coffee Company, a high-profile coffee shop located in the heart of the Victoria’s Gonzales neighbourhood. At the core of the Branch is a network of people: baristas practicing their craft, vendors highlighting quality products and locals sharing the hub—which all come together to make the cafe a thriving part of its community.

Matthew Jardine
Partner

Matty founded and is one of Aryze’s partners. A true creative, he’s sought to apply his passion for design and form to each project Aryze has delivered over the past 16 years. With a tenure spanning 17-years in construction and management, Matty is our team’s visionary.

Ryan Goodman
Partner

Ryan is a partner in Aryze and leads its business and strategy.  Ryan has a BA (Economics) from Simon Fraser University and an MBA from the University of Victoria.

Luke Mari
Partner

Luke is a partner in Aryze and leads its land acquisition and development efforts.  Luke studied Land Economics at UBC and has a BA (Urban Planning) from the University of Northern BC.

Andrew Purdey
Partner

Andrew is a partner in Aryze and an investor in our business and development projects.  Andrew brings a deep wealth of business and construction knowledge from his career as the founder of Ruskin Construction, as well as a number of other specialized industrial and construction service businesses.  Andrew is the majority shareholder of Purdey Group, a family-funded capital investment firm.

Katherine Davies
Director, Operations

Katherine has a PhD from the University of Victoria and a project management professional (PMP) designation, and collaborates with Ryan and Matty in organizing and overseeing the daily operations of the company. Katherine ensures the business and projects are well-coordinated; manages Aryze’s procedures and processes; and safeguards and augments the efficiency of the company’s operations to facilitate accelerating development and long-term success.

Lisa Ricci
Controller

Lisa holds a CPA, CA designation, BComm from McGill University, and Master’s in Environment & Business from University of Waterloo. Passionate about teaching balance in every sense of the word, Lisa is a faculty member with CPA Canada and UVic, and a yoga instructor at One Yoga Victoria.

Rachel Parry
Staff Accountant

A pro in numbers, Rachel joined us with a BA in Management and Organization and is currently pursuing a CPA designation to strengthen her mastery. Although small, she is as fierce as it comes!

Sydney Yap
Junior Accountant

Sydney has a Bachelors in Commerce from the University of Victoria and spent a semester studying at HHL Graduate School of Management in Germany. Sydney loves to travel, eat, and hike and has so far explored over 20 countries.

Vinit Jain
Manager, PMO

Vinit brings a steady hand and a depth of knowledge in construction and operations management. Having previously worked with global IT solutions provider Tata Consulting, Vinit is a project manager and responsible for the project management office, ensuring projects are well-coordinated by managing its procedures, helping drive projects forward during pre-construction, and maintaining overall performance on all projects.

 

Justin Filuk
Director of Design

With a Master’s Degree in Planning and Urban Design from the University of Calgary and a number of professional designations including LEED AP and PMP, Justin has an extensive and diverse background in real estate development. Over the past 17 years he has worked on projects throughout North American, including master-planned communities, affordable housing projects, brownfield redevelopment and speciality commercial/retail projects. Justin currently serves as member of the board for UDI Capital Region and actively contributes to stakeholder groups and educational sessions in the industry.

Saige Michel
Design Intern

Saige is a 4th year honours student from the University of Toronto completing a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies with a specialization in Architectural Design. She grew up in Banff National Park and attributes living in a small town to her strong awareness of the importance of community. During her spare time Saige enjoys drawing, painting, and rock climbing; she also likes trees a lot.

Ryan Malone
Project Manager

Ryan holds a Commerce Degree from Royal Roads University,  and a Project Management Certificate from UBC. Furthermore, he is a project management professional (PMP) and a LEED accredited professional. Prior to joining Aryze, Ryan was a Project Manager with Natural Balance in Vancouver, where he lead construction of high-end custom homes by some of our provinces leading architects.

Jackson Leidenfrost
Project Manager

Jackson is highly skilled Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter and site supervisor. He joined Aryze with 8-years of progressive construction experience starting with a 4-year apprenticeship at one of British Columbia’s premier custom-home builders, Calrudd Construction. Jackson is a natural leader who brings energy, fairness, and integrity to each interaction with sub-trades, customers, and the Aryze team.

Andrew Chapman
Project Manager

Andrew is a Red Seal Carpenter who brings a range of experience in project management and building science to our team. He enjoys challenging and innovative projects with a focus on sustainable building technologies suited for the coastal climate in the Pacific Northwest. When not on the job, Andrew can be found outdoors with his family or pursuing his dream of one day playing in the NHL.

Damian Clow
Project Manager

Damian holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of PEI and has been involved in all aspects of high-rise and multi-family construction for the past 12 years. This experience combined with multiple years as a competitive Alpine Ski coach, has shaped his skill set as a leading and innovative project manager. Damian knows that striving for efficiency, accountability, and the highest quality is paramount to a successful project.

Kurt Filan
Construction Manager

Kurt brings a wealth of knowledge to our front line. Working alongside our project managers, Kurt reviews and coordinates our day-to-day construction. As a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter, he passionately continues to build the Aryze apprenticeship program. He finds enjoyment in motivating the team on a daily basis to build more efficiently and sustainably for a healthier future. When not sporting his steel toed boots, Kurt can be found enjoying the outdoors with his daughter, on a boat ocean fishing, or hitting the ice rink.

Kyle Dunkley
Construction Specialist

Kyle completed his apprenticeship at Camosun College and is a 17-year seasoned veteran of carpentry who truly has a passion for the craft. Ensuring a safety culture surrounds him as he continues to learn all aspects of building and construction. When not on site, Kyle can be found exploring Vancouver Island with his wife and 2 children.

 

Miguel Gagnon
Sr. Site Supervisor

Miguel is a highly skilled Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter with over 15 years experience in a variety of construction environments including concrete forming, framing, roofing, and interior finishing. Miguel usually has the best parking spot on site for a good reason—he’s always the first person there.

 

Tyler Cust
Site Supervisor

Tyler is a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter with a truly broad understanding of construction; he brings a wide range of experience in forming, framing, interior finishing, and project management. Tyler is often the last man onsite, diligently making sure everything has been taken care of.

Wade Whitlock
Site Supervisor

A Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter, Wade has over 14 years of experience in the construction and trade industry. He brings a vast and broad mastery to the Aryze team.

 

Adam Trimm
Site Supervisor

With a BA (Psychology) from the University of Ottawa, an Architecture Technology Certificate from Algonquin College, and a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) designation through the Project Management Institute, Adam joined Aryze with an eclectic mix of experience in construction and project management. An outdoor enthusiast and survivalist, Adam spends his spare time trekking, climbing mountains, and exploring the wild with his dog, including a 5-month hiking trip from Calgary to Victoria.

Ben Hircock
Carpenter

With a landscape design certificate through Gaia college, Ben has 10 years experience in construction and landscaping with a focus on high-end custom homes. With a passion for natural systems and ecological sustainability, Ben can be found leading field studies in mycology and botany in his spare time.

 

Jason Gowen
Carpenter

Jason is a carpenter with 15 years experience in various aspects of the construction industry. He believes strongly in community service and is a passionate naturalist and mycologist. When Jason is not on site he is building community by volunteering for charitable organizations or teaching people about mushrooms and the incredible forests of our region.

Scott Timmer
Carpenter

With a diploma in Architectural Technologies from SAIT and 10 years of carpentry experience, Scott has a passion for construction, design, and innovation. An outdoor enthusiast and adventurist, Scott enjoys hiking, camping, and snowboarding in his spare time.

Mike Farley
Apprentice Carpenter

Mike brings a wide breadth of knowledge with 10 years experience in trades including plumbing, structural iron work, and historical restorations. When not working with the crew you can find Mike behind the handlebars of his bicycle or waist deep in a river with a fish on the line… sometimes.

Rob Garant
Apprentice Carpenter

Coming from 10 years of experience in industrial sales and management, Rob brings a team-first mentality while always planning ahead. A keen learner and apprentice carpenter who will bring professionalism to our job sites.

Sam Gane
Apprentice Carpenter & Safety Officer

Sam’s thirst for knowledge, kindness, and attention to detail makes him a valuable addition to the team. Having worked as a paramedic with BC Ambulance Service for 5 years prior to joining us, Sam brings his passion for health and safety to every worksite.

Connor Gilhooly
Apprentice Carpenter

Conor is a carpentry apprentice who joined Aryze with 3 years experience in industrial construction in Northern Canada with the Ledcor Group. Conor has experience in welding and carpentry, and is actively pursuing his Certificate in Business Administration from Okanagan College. On the evenings and weekends, he has been developing his craft with fine furniture building. You can recognize him immediately on site as the man who never stops smiling.

Carter Laird
Apprentice Carpenter

With 2 years of construction experience, Carter is a carpentry apprentice and is certified in traffic control, first aid level 1, and safety. If you ever need a Rubik’s cube solved, Carter’s your man; he can lay it down in 50 seconds or less!

Marlin Watts
Skilled Labourer

Marlin joined the Aryze team with 1 year of construction experience in framing, forming, and small renovations. Marlin is fluent in sign language, plays competitive soccer in his spare time, and is the fastest guy on site.
